“The poster design is based on my experience in a Contempo Flux rehearsal. The music was distinctly irregular but with a strong sense of repetition. Although the sound was organic, the performance was defined by a modern sharpness and attention to detail. For this reason, I decided to create the poster by hand instead of digitally, but using forms which reflect that sharpness.
"Counting seemed to be the systematic backbone of the ensemble's cohesion. This process acted as a guide to my own system and helped me visualize Contempo Flux as a fluctuating system of counted tallies and “X" marks. Just as the music gains form with the overlap of each musician's contribution, the text “Contempo Flux” is defined in my poster by the overlapping of my own system.”
