Gloria Cheng implored, "let the music dance!" Hearing only this, one would assume that the music is dreamy, light hearted, but these words can be applied to all music, not just that of a dreamy piece. With every critique, every edit to the piece, whether that was a change in tempo or softening/harshening of the sounds, something about the piece began to, in fact, dance more. The amount of control behind every note played is what creates that foundation that allows the music to truly dance and have this sense of ascension where the notes just rise off the page. How I chose to translate this to design was by having a base structure of "CONTEMPO FLUX" with only the outline representing all of the conscious choices and control of the playing of the piece, all while blending in with the background to show that it is not the thing that one initially focuses on. Then, I used smaller, filled letters and applied a certain randomness where it moves from that base structure to represent the notion of “dancing.” Based off of this gesture, I created line paths that follow and flow along the letter path to further employ that sense of having the music ascend. The sharper, more modern look is reflective to that of the uniqueness of Contempo Flux’s music.
